# Vindicia Retain - 2026.08 Release Notes

***

Production Release Date: August 26, 2026

## What's New with Retain?

Vindicia Retain leverages Vindicia's proven payment recovery and smart retry functionality along with additional touch points that make it easier and faster to use.

What's coming bulletins and Release notes for Vindicia Retain will be provided monthly in the [Vindicia Knowledge Center](/portal/retainReleaseNotes/retainReleaseNotes) listing new features, functionality, and enhancements that will be made available.

## Retain REST APIs

No Retain REST API changes for this release.

## Payment Features

### Dynamic Billing Descriptor Support for Elavon

Vindicia Retain now passes a merchant-supplied billing descriptor to Elavon, so recovered charges show the merchant's chosen name on the cardholder's statement instead of the processor's fixed descriptor. Merchants supply the value in the existing `billingStatementIdentifier` transaction field; when it is omitted, the fixed descriptor still applies. Note: dynamic descriptors (dynamic DBA) must be enabled on the merchant's Elavon terminal, so merchants should coordinate with Vindicia Client Services before sending the field. Without dynamic descriptors being enabled, Elavon will reject the transaction.

### Multi-Payment Method and Multi-Processor Retry Support

Vindicia Retain now supports failed-transaction recovery across multiple payment methods and multiple payment processors per customer. Merchants can register any combination of processor tokens for a customer's stored cards, including the same card tokenized across multiple processors, or different cards each tied to different processors. Retain determines which payment-method-and-processor combinations to attempt across the retry window for each failed invoice.
