# Retain Portal User Roles and Access

During the Retain implementation phase, designate authorized users that can access the portal.

The following user roles are available as part of the Retain Merchant Portal:

* **Business Manager**: Responsible for managing the business environment. The user can view financial data and customer data in order to have a full understanding of customer needs.
* **Retain Trial**: This role allows prospective merchants to try Retain. It limits availability of the role permission to the defined trial time.
* **Super User**: The high-level administrator of the merchant account. This user has access to all the areas in the Portal. Additionally, this user is responsible for managing the merchant's users using [Vindicia's IDP Console](/portal/vindiciaCareIDP/topics/VINcareIntroduction).
